CURSILLO

(pronounced cur-see-yo)

All Saints is a Cursillo parish!

Cursillo is a Spanish word which means a short course.  Don’t be put off by the ‘course’ language -  this is an allegory of the pilgrim’s journey.

At the heart of Cursillo is The Weekend.  This takes place at a designated retreat house where every effort is made by the Cursillo Team and the House Staff to make you feel welcome and very special!

The Weekend starts on a Thursday evening and runs through to Sunday afternoon.  Delegates (known as pilgrims) often describe this time as coming away to a quiet place to be among Jesus and his disciples. But please don’t think it’s all quiet. There are meditations, short talks, table discussions, several acts of worship, a lot of friendship forming, Holy Communion and lots of prayer (palanca).  There’s also a lot of eating and singing!  You definitely won’t go hungry and don’t even think about bringing work or planning bunk off time ... it won’t happen!

If it sounds intense, that’s because it is! Cursillo is definitely not for people who are going through a particularly difficult time and you need to be Confirmed.

If, however, you’d like to experience God’s amazing love for you and if you’d like to feel what it’s like to be touched by Grace, to be empowered by the One who has called you by name and if you’d like to discover all kinds of possibilities .... this could be life changing for you!  You owe it to yourself (and to the Church) to check this out!

After The Weekend, you’ll be invited to join a Cursillo Group Reunion which meets once a month, there’ll be occasional Big Group Reunions (Ultreyas) ...  and who knows, you may even want to staff yourself on a Weekend some day!
